Helping new members make the switch

October 20, 2011

Online Switch Kits continue to get excellent media coverage. Today, I received an email newsletter from the Northwest Credit Union Association (serving credit unions in Oregon and Washington), and was tickled to see an article on Switch Kits featured. The article is titled Can Switch Kits Increase New Member Satisfaction?

It was particularly happy for me to see this article appear in that trade publication since EverythingCU’s Online Switch Kit was born out of a session I attended at a 2002 CUES conference held in Seattle. There was a breakout session called Switch Kits presented by a credit union marketer from Pinellas County FCU. This breakout session was packed to standing room only. At that time, not many people were thinking about the online world, so it just seemed natural to me to create an online version of what they were writing out by hand, and thus the EverythingCU Online Switch Kit was born.

One point of pride for us with our Online Switch Kit: Since EverythingCU.com serves only credit unions, we have only credit unions as clients of this product. Therefore, the EverythingCU.com Online Switch Kit will NEVER help a person make the switch from a credit union to a bank…. only the “correct” direction, and that is from a bank to a credit union. We do have competitors, but as far as I know, none of them can make this claim.

If you aren’t one of the 112 credit unions already using the Online Switch Kit, what are you waiting for? If you are one, then thank you for your continued patronage and we hope you are seeing terrific usage from it by your new members!

The Online Switch Kit continues to garner inquiries

October 17, 2011

This morning, I saw several credit unions share on Facebook this video clip of CUNA President Bill Cheney appearing on CNBC:

CNBC Video Clip

I can’t help but notice that Mr. Cheney states that many credit unions have Switch Kits… my only question is: Does your credit union have a Switch Kit, and is it an automated Online Switch Kit, or an old-school static PDF? :)

With a grass-roots Bank Transfer Day approaching on November 5, now is a great time to implement an Online Switch Kit to make it easier for potential new members to make the switch to YOUR credit union!

Marketing your CU’s Credit Cards

December 16, 2010

Right now, it’s a little bit more than a month away, but I’m nevertheless already excited for EverythingCU’s next webinar, How to Determine Your Credit Card Portfolio’s Marketing Needs which will be presented by Ondine Irving, creator of the nationally recognized Credit Card Connection program.

Ondine is an expert in credit union credit cards and her consulting branch is Card Analysis Solutions. Because of her deep knowledge of this arena of CU business, she routinely saves her clients tens of thousands of dollars by eliminating unnecessary and redundant charges coming from the card processor.

In this webinar, Ondine will show you how to analyze YOUR current card portfolio to determine what course of marketing action will maximize your ROI. Sometimes your card processor wants to sell you something that will benefit your credit union, but sometimes they are trying to sell you something which is in their best interests, which is not necessarily yours. Attend this webinar to gain the knowledge to put yourself in the driver’s seat of your card portfolio. You might even end up being able to save your CU some money on the expense side as well.

In the meantime, make sure your credit union is listed in the national database of the Credit Card Connection by registering here (which is FREE). Suze Orman continually promotes this site through her latest book and tv appearances, and credit unions that are featured get a steady flow of new card applications.

To learn more about the webinar including pricing, or to sign up for it, register yourself on EverythingCU.com (which is quick, free and easy) if you haven’t already, and check out this webinar’s detail page here.

PodCamp Boston 5 tomorrow!

September 24, 2010

PCWM_10SurveySays

PodCamp Boston 5 starts tomorrow, and I’m excited to be going there with my sweetheart, Lesley Lambert. Both she and I will be facilitating sessions on Sunday. Lesley’s topic is Advanced Twitter, and I’ll be facilitating a discussion on Geolocation. I’ve facilitated sessions on Geolocation at RE BarCamp Orlando and RE BarCamp Rye, and my slidedeck for it has been viewed 1,178 times on Slideshare.net. I’ll be modifying the presentation for the PodCamp environment versus the real estate camp.

This will be my third PodCamp Boston, and lucky 13th camp of any variety.

I love the things that happen at camps, the people, the sessions, the networking, the brainstorming, the learning, the teaching, the sharing, the connections that people make. Being somewhat of a Camp veteran, I especially enjoy helping newcomers have a good experience as much as I enjoy reconnecting with old friends. I also love “seeing” the camp through others’ eyes, especially Camp virgins, but I love veteran’s thoughts, photos, videos, blogs, tweets, and whatever other media is produced.

Here are some links looking back at my previous Camp experiences, including PodCamp Boston 2, where I knew no one going into it, but made some great friends:

Looking forward to what this weekend brings at PodCamp Boston 5!

Geolocation, Geolocation, Geolocation

August 26, 2010

Climbing Mt. TomI’ve been following the developments of our geolocation-enabled world for many years now, starting with car GPS navigators and geocaching, through to Gowalla and now Facebook places. Geolocation’s ubiquity is part of the reason this blog is called World 2.0.

There are some applications of geolocation in the credit union world, in social media in general, and there are even more applications in the field of real estate.

I had the great honor to present a session on geolocation at RE BarCamp Orlando yesterday. I received some excellent feedback from it, and the slide deck was featured on Slideshare.net‘s home page this morning.

I hope to present this session at RE BarCamp New Hampshire!

Social Media Marketing University

June 18, 2010

We here at EverythingCU.com have built up quite a library of recorded webinar workshops on social media. In fact, taken together, you could say we’ve created a Social Media University for credit unions.

Here are links to the full curriculum. Take them either individually, or as whole, for a thorough understanding of marketing your credit union via online community channels:

Spiderweb: This foundational 101 webinar covers creating your Facebook account, Facebook fanpage, setting up an event on Facebook as well as twitter basics. Also covered in this webinar is using both twitter and Facebook to drive traffic back to your credit union’s web site.

Twitter 101: This foundational 101 webinar covers setting up a twitter account the right way, things to keep in mind when choosing your twitter handle, how to find other twitterers within a specified radius of your branches, and how to drive traffic back to your credit union’s web site using Twitter.

Bring Your Binoculars: This advanced 301-level webinar assumes you have the knowledge covered in the previous two webinars, and shows you how to tie your social media efforts together for greater impact. You’ll learn about tools to monitor what’s being said about your credit union online, and how to promote your credit union event using a number of free online resources.

Look Who’s Talking: This 101-level webinar covers how to handle responding to negative comments made online about your CU, and is geared for both CUs already participating in the online conversation as well as those on the fence who are looking for reassurance that diving in will not bring the end of the world.

Click on any of the links or graphics above to order and instantly download these recorded webinars!

Getting your member testimonials online

April 16, 2010

EverythingCU’s PlumWall continues to draw new member testimonials for the credit unions that have deployed it.

Here’s some of the latest stories that have been shared online:

Heartland CU in Minnesota:

“While on vacation there was a glitch with my Heartland VISA card. I can’t stress enough how the quick actions of Heartland Credit Union allowed my family and I to have a fantastic, uninterrupted vacation! An issue that has taken me days to correct at other banks was fixed within minutes! That outstanding level of customer service and attention to detail is what will keep customers loyal to Heartland for years and years. Thanks again to the terrific staff at Heartland CU.”

“Amy and Carol have always been great to work with. I have been a member for 15+ years and Amy just closed an auto loan for me super fast. It’s nice to see efficiency in motion & the personal touch they give. Many thanks!”

Innovations FCU in Florida:

“I recently switched to Innovations FCU because I was extremely dissatisfied with the customer service with my previous local credit union. I was very cautious….I checked out the online site first, then called the main branch to ask questions. The representative was extremely helpful. I have been banking with them for over 2 months and so far the experience has been extremely positive. No matter which of the 3 branches I have been to…. the customer service has been Wonderful! I use the online banking service… Great response when I had questions. I have been recommending Innovations to my family and friends!”

Centra CU in Indiana:

“Orchids to Rachel and Greg at Centra Credit Union, Edinburgh Branch for helping me so much when I discovered fraudulent activity on my account: Rachel for getting my card closed so quickly and Greg for refunding my account as soon as possible”

Fantastic that potential members are learning about the benefits of being a member of these credit unions!
