The Disclosures – Thank My Piggy Bank

April 3, 2013

Many of you may know the Madison-based musical duo of Christopher Morris and Chad Helminak, better known as The Disclosures. In addition to their busy touring schedule, they have also been recording some new songs for a forthcoming album.

It’s not too often that my primary job of EverythingCU.com intersects with my side project of music engineering and remixing, but when I heard that Chris and Chad were working on new songs, I jumped at the chance to mix their new album for them. They have been thrilled with the results.

Their first single, Thank My Piggy Bank was just released on YouTube, iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby yesterday, in honor of National Financial Literacy month. Here is their fun video:

And you can purchase/download it from iTunes here. For more details on the duo and the song, their blog post is here. Enjoy!

Marketing 2.0 in song

December 8, 2008

There are times when experience trumps youth. But in marketing today, fresh thinking is where it’s at. I had the pleasure of meeting Rebecca Corliss (@repcor on twitter) at PodCampBoston 3, and discovered a wonderful YouTube video of her college singing group spontaneously performing Torn, a capella, on the Boston T. Now’s she’s at it again, showing us that call centers are marketing’s dinosaur.

I LOVE recursiveness, and this video itself is a great example of inbound marketing. By creating a music video which is fun as well as educational, people like me are blogging and tweeting it (35 tweets this morning, just on oughta know, and more than 75 to or about Rebecca), of course all voluntarily. Also note that the lyrics contain the line “search results one, two, and three,” while the video wraps with a Google search on “inbound marketing.” Four of the top five results either belong to Hubspot, or an event sponsored by Hubspot.

From Gaining New SEGs to Cranking the Tunes

November 14, 2007

For seven years now, I have been privileged to witness an amazing amount of credit union-specific information being exchanged via EverythingCU. And I never cease to be amazed at the quality of ideas and the constant addition of great new topics. Yesterday, the conversation about Fresh Ideas for Gaining New SEGs caught my eye with some great techniques that have proven successful. Then today, as we head into shorter days and longer nights, we are having fun talking about Tunes to crank work out to… Our friend, Nicole Clark, who is the Marketing Director for True North FCU in Juneau, Alaska, wants some music recommends as her locale approaches days with nearly no sunlight at the solstice.
